Synopsis

Seven days to fall in love, 15 years to forget, and seven days to get it all back again...

Eva Mercy is a single mom and bestselling erotica writer who is feeling pressed from all sides. Shane Hall is a reclusive, enigmatic, award‑winning novelist, who, to everyone's surprise, shows up in New York.

When Shane and Eva meet unexpectedly at a literary event, sparks fly, raising not only their buried traumas, but the eyebrows of the Black literati. What no one knows is that 15 years earlier, teenage Eva and Shane spent one crazy, torrid week madly in love. While they may be pretending not to know each other, they can't deny their chemistry - or the fact that they've been secretly writing to each other in their books through the years.

Over the next seven days, amidst a steamy Brooklyn summer, Eva and Shane reconnect - but Eva's wary of the man who broke her heart, and wants him out of the city so her life can return to normal. Before Shane disappears though, she needs a few questions answered...

With its keen observations of creative life in America today, as well as the joys and complications of being a mother and a daughter, Seven Days in June is a hilarious, romantic, and sexy‑as‑hell story of two writers discovering their second chance at love.

Review:

I loved this book! Eva is a woman with a hidden disability, debilitating migraines, Shane is a recovering alcoholic who has turned his life around and become a teacher.  Both met while misfits in high school and their connection was strong until after promising he would never leave her Shane disappeared from her life.  Now both are successful authors, Shane a mysterious author and Eva a fantasy romance writer when they reconnect and find that their books have been based on each other and the connection they once had was never broken.

This is not an easy pairing and there is a lot of ups and downs and Eva struggles with what happened in the past, often inventing fictions about her life to tell her daughter instead of giving her the harsh truth.  Now Shane is back and he is sweeping her off her feet again.  But can a past love be rekindled? What happened to Shane? Where has he been?

This was a great book for how real the characters appeared.  I felt like I got to know them.  I wanted to be on of Eva's fans standing in a lobby with a witch hat shouting her name.  To say that this book is romance is to put it in the genre that so many people think is all fluff no substance but this book has it all.  Integrity, heart break and the cutest most astute tween you will ever read.

The narrator did an excellent job of sucking you into this world so much that I almost forgot that it was a story and not based on real people!
