Synopsis

Sara Douglas watched as Nick Tyson emerged from the heavy rain, broken and battered. She’d returned to Cape Darkwood, and the cliff side mansion that held her family’s secrets, to research her parents’ murder—and stop the nightmares. As chief of police, Sara knew Nick could help. But his mere presence had always left her breathless…

Few people understood how much Nick had lost, but while Sara ran, Nick had nowhere else to go. Instead, he patrolled a divided town whose secrets lay dormant at the bottom of the cliffs. Nick wouldn’t let that be Sara’s fate, no matter how much it pained him to see her again. Their pasts linked by tragedy, the truth would finally give them a fresh start. But only if the keeper of that truth allowed it…

Review:

I really love this author and have been a huge fan of her Kate Burkholder series of Amish mysteries. This is a stand alone romantic suspense mystery that was first published in 1984, and has since been reissued.  I seem to be drawn to stories about beautiful gothic houses that hold secrets and this doesn't disappoint.  Designed and built by her father Sara is drawn back to childhood home by an anonymous phone call that tells her that her father who is accused of killing his wife and best friend in a murder suicide really didn't commit the crime.  Hoping to clear her fathers name Sara returns to find the proof. What she finds is a town that doesn't want her, a town torn apart by the murders and blame her family for the tragedy. As Sara uncovers more someone else is there stalking her, and putting her in dangers.  Chief of Police Nick Tyson whose father was one of the murder victims and has had a life long attraction to Sara is stunned to find her back in town and is determined to keep her safe.

I really enjoyed the fast paced mystery and the clean romance of this book.  No you aren't going to get any hot steamy sex scenes in this book but you will get a creepy mystery.
