Synopsis

Nate and Brooke Martin arrive at their summer cottage along the rapidly gentrifying Great Lakes shoreline. The beach is warm, the water is cool, and the sea breeze is blissful--perfect conditions for rekindling their strained relationship.

However, on a morning stroll along the beach, Nate finds an unusual gold coin half-buried in the sand. Where did it come from? Are there more?

Teaming up with reclusive ex-Coast Guard Officer and Great Lakes master of the deep, Abner Hutch, Nate dives for clues to the treasure's origins. But when word leaks that there may be a fortune hidden under the waves, they find themselves hunted by mega-rich residents up the coast who are willing to do anything to advance their extravagant lifestyles.

Will the Martins change their family's fortunes, or will the summer vacation end in a tragedy?

Review:

I found this book on Hoopla it is the first in the Great Lakes Saga by Landon Beach. It can also be found in paperback for free with kindle unlimited.

This is a faced paced treasured hunt.  Nate and Brook own a bungalow along Lake Superior that once belonged to Nates father.  The rich residents of the area hate the bungalows and wish that the owners would sell so they can build mansions on the coveted land.  Nate's wife Brooke is being seduced by another one of their neighbors who is trying to spice up his sex life with threesomes.

Out for his morning stroll along the beach Nate finds a gold coin on his section of the beach.  Wanting to know more about it he turns to a friend who points him to Hutch, a reclusive old coast guard officer.  What Hutch discovers could change both their lives.  Of course one of his rich neighbors also has his sights set on finding the treasure before they do.

Filled with history, and mystery this is a race to find and keep a treasure that isn't supposed to exist.  I loved the writing, the narrator and the characters.  It held my attention and the narrator did an excellent job.
