Synopsis

t’s not always easy to live in the hidden town of Rockton, something Detective Casey Duncan knows firsthand. Tucked away in the Yukon wilderness, the community survives—and thrives—because the residents' many secrets stay just that—secret.

But what happens when these secrets start to come out? Overnight, no one is safe. It’s not a question of if your secret will come out—but when.

Casey and her boyfriend, Sheriff Eric Dalton, need to find the culprit while protecting those who have been thrust into the spotlight. For a place built on privacy and new beginnings, Rockton isn’t handling these revelations very well. People are turning on one another, and when one of the loudest complainers turns up barely alive, it's clear that their trickster is actually a murderer.

The threat of exposure is reaching its breaking point, and no one knows what’s going to happen next.

Review:

I found this book on Audible.

I love these books. They are not stand alone books as each book builds on the next.  Rockton is secret town in the Yukon Territory.  The people of Rockton are there to escape their lives, and they pay good money for it. It used to be filled with people trying to escape their lives for one reason or another but recently the new citizens have been criminals with violent pasts.  Now secrets that once were secret are coming out and as in many small towns the witch hunts begin.

Casey and Eric are trying to contain the situation but also know that the powers that be are shutting them down. Rockton will be no more but they along with a few others have decided to create their own Rockton somewhere else but they aren't sure how they are going to accomplish it.  In the meantime they have citizens being buried alive, attacked in their homes and the secrets that brought people to Rockton being divulged and stirring up trouble.

Another great installment of this series.  Not as much alone time for Eric and Casey but time is ticking on their off the grid town. I really hope that this isn't the last book in this series because I'd like to see where Eric and Casey wind up and what they can accomplish.
