Synopsis

Naomi Shaw used to believe in magic. Twenty-two years ago, she and her two best friends, Cassidy and Olivia, spent the summer roaming the woods, imagining a world of ceremony and wonder. They called it the Goddess Game. The summer ended suddenly when Naomi was attacked. Miraculously, she survived her seventeen stab wounds and lived to identify the man who had hurt her. The girls’ testimony put away a serial killer, wanted for murdering six women. They were heroes.

And they were liars.

For decades, the friends have kept a secret worth killing for. But now Olivia wants to tell, and Naomi sets out to find out what really happened in the woods—no matter how dangerous the truth turns out to be.

Review:

I received this book from the publisher through netgalley.com I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Naomi continues to struggle with the brutal attack she survived at 11. Now the man who was convicted of that crime is dead, and Naomi still wonders if she sent the wrong person to prison.

Returning to her home town at the request of her best friend, she finds her dad about to get evicted due to his hoarding, the man who saved her now in politics and her best friend desperate to tell the truth about a body that they found in the woods when they were little.

This book grabbed me from the beginning.  There are a lot of twists and turns and some things that I figured out before they were revealed but that didn't take away from my enjoyment.  The ending was a bit of a surprise which was welcome.

The narrator was great really keeping the story moving, capturing the desperation Naomi is feeling as different things are revealed.

If you like twisty turny mysteries give this one a go.
